Hong Kong, March 24, 2023 — Decentralised Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) is a vital facet of Web3’s expansion into the mainstream market. As one of the co-organisers of the Hong Kong Web3 Festival, HashKey Group, together with renowned DePIN project arkreen, will launch the “Web3 DePIN Hong Kong Initiative” to promote the development of the DePIN ecosystem in Hong Kong. The initiative will bring together DePIN projects, builders, investment research institutions, and equipment vendors to work towards this goal. As the co-convener of the event, arkreen will also hold a forum titled “DePIN: Web3 and Digital Infrastructure” with the Hong Kong Web3 Festival organisers, to share insights on global DePIN entrepreneurial teams connecting with Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area’s policies and resources, promoting DePIN projects, and hardware equipment manufacturers to land in Hong Kong, and establish Hong Kong as the centre of the global DePIN ecosystem.

Paradigm Shift of Digital Infrastructure Network
In recent years, the Web3 community has become increasingly aware of the critical role of DePIN in integrating Web3 with the real world to achieve a billion-user scale. DePIN, as an emerging trend in 2023, utilises blockchain and the Internet of Things (IoT) to ensure a trusted data foundation for the physical world. Using a fair and transparent consensus mechanism, DePIN motivates and schedules global users to jointly build a digital infrastructure network. From an economic theory perspective, DePIN solves the dilemma of public property construction through economic means. From a business model perspective, DePIN opens up a low-threshold path to constructing global infrastructure. From the perspective of paradigm shift, DePIN integrates DAO, blockchain, IoT, etc. and may bring true Web3 integrated innovation.
Representative cases in this field include global decentralised data storage network Filecoin, the world’s largest IoT network Helium, vehicle data network DIMO, roadmap network Hivemapper, and decentralised energy data network arkreen, among many other projects emerging continuously and reconstructing a new logic for constructing a global hardware infrastructure network. Taking Helium as an example, the project completed the laying of nearly one million LoRa IoT stations worldwide in just three years.
A common feature of DePIN projects is that they require a carrier based on hardware as infrastructure services, and most of these hardware equipment manufacturers are from the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
As the gateway of the Greater Bay Area, Hong Kong has a global supply chain and industry resources for excellent hardware equipment manufacturing, as well as friendly Web3 policies and an international business environment. For DePIN, Hong Kong’s superior geographical conditions and policy environment are the breeding ground for developing DePIN projects, seizing opportunities to reconstruct the digitisation of global industry infrastructure, and providing new infrastructure models for the digital age! On the morning session of April 13th, renowned industry opinion leaders from around the world will gather in Hong Kong to delve into the connection between Web3 and the physical world.
This much anticipated panel is a part of the larger four-day Hong Kong Web3 Festival 2023, which also includes multiple exciting Web3 leader dialogues and industry-focus discussions. This mega Web3 event will cover five venues with a total area of nearly 9,000 square meters, attracting more than 10,000 onsite audiences, over 300 distinguished speakers, and more than 100 popular Web3 projects, communities, and media participating in the exhibition.
